- SSCC announces free GED preparation classes
- The Adult Opportunity Center (AOC) at Southern State Community College is offering a January orientation in basic academic skills, GED preparation, and college readiness.
November 2015
- U.S. Bank contributes to SSCC Foundation
- U.S. Bank has been a significant contributor to Southern State, exceeding $16,000 in donations and resulting in numerous СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø to Southern State students.
- Carey to visit SSCC to discuss business/education grant partnership
- Chancellor John Carey of the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) will visit Southern State Community College Monday, Nov. 23, to lead a roundtable discussion with RAPIDS Grant partners to discuss funding awarded to the region.
- SSCC band to perform Nov. 22 Veterans Day concert
- The Southern State Community Band will honor our nation’s veterans with a Veterans Day concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet November 18
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 12 noon Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the Community Center of SSCC Fayette СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø.
- Free CMT Concert at SSCC/Hillsboro on Nov. 12
- Country Music Television is coming to Southern State Community College in Hillsboro for a free concert featuring Carly Pearce who recently was recognized as one of CMT’s 2016 Next Women of Country.

- SSCC students invited to Ohio Collegiate Leadership Summit
- Two local college students have been invited to attend Propel Ohio, hosted by Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio. Propel Ohio is an Ohio Collegiate Leadership Summit to be held Oct. 16 at The Ohio State University Student Union.
- SSCC Theatre presents "Becky’s New Car" Nov. 6-8
- SSCC Theatre will present "Becky’s New Car," at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, and a matinee at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø of Southern State Community College, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet October 7
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Room 106 of Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The meeting is open to the public.

- SSCC Basic Peace Officers complete training
- The cadets of Southern State Community College’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held August 13 at the college’s Fayette СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Washington Court House.
- SSCC Board of Trustees to meet August 19
- The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees will meet 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, in the Community Room on the college’s Brown County СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø, 351 Brooks Malott Road, Mt. Orab.
- Engineering Co-Op now offered at Southern State

- Lynchburg-Clay High School graduate Tyler Allen has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Southern State Community College.

- Fairfield High School graduate Joey Wilson has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Southern State Community College.
July 2015
- Earn an SSCC degree in 18 months with new evening accelerated program
- With Southern State Community College’s new accelerated associate degree programs, students can spend just two nights per week in class—and finish in 18 months.
- SSCC offers new six-weekend Real Estate program
- A new accelerated program in Real Estate will be offered at Southern State Community College beginning in September.
- Upcoming info sessions for SSCC programs
- Southern State Community College is hosting informational sessions for several of its technical programs which are offered at both campus and offsite locations. The info sessions are being held at the locations where those programs are offered. Fall semester classes begin Aug. 24 and registration is now underway.
- Wallace named keynote speaker for July 20-23 education conference at SSCC
- Dr. Teri Wallace has been named the keynote speaker for the seventh annual education conference, "Building Bridges," which will be held July 20-23, 2015, at Southern State Com-munity College’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
- Southern State announces new GED site in West Union
- Southern State Community College announces the opening of a new GED preparation site in West Union. Beginning in August, the college’s Adult Opportunity Center will offer its GED prep classes from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the West Union Church of Christ on 270 Lloyd Road (across from the high school).

- Area residents who passed the General Education Development (GED) test were honored

- Southern State Community College is seeking comments from the public about the college in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency.
- SSCC Theatre presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" July 24-26
- SSCC Theatre will present "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25, and a family-friendly lite version at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø of Southern State Community College, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

- Whiteoak High School graduate Tyler Williams has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Southern State Community College.

- West Union High School graduate James Sellars has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Southern State Community College.

- Blanchester High School graduate Braxton Clark has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Southern State Community College.

- SSCC awards Joyce E. Fender Memorial Scholarship to Rhonda Kidder
- Southern State Community College is proud to announce the recipient of the Joyce E. Fender Memorial Scholarship for 2015. The SSCC Foundation presented the award to Rhonda Kidder of Hillsboro.
- SSCC awards Hillsboro Elks Scholarship to Maverick Ward
- Southern State Community College is proud to announce the recipient of the Hillsboro Elks Scholarship for 2015. The SSCC Foundation and the Hillsboro Elks presented the award to Maverick Ward, a 2015 graduate of Hillsboro High School.
- SSCC awards Wilson/Paeltz Memorial Scholarship to Haley Meranda
- Southern State Community College is proud to announce the recipient of the Dylan Phillip Wilson and Nathan Paeltz Memorial Scholarship for 2015. The SSCC Foundation presented the award to Haley Meranda, a 2015 graduate of Georgetown High School.

- SSCC’s Associate Degree Nursing program celebrates graduation
- Forty-two graduates of Southern State Community College’s Associate Degree Nursing program were recognized during a recent pinning ceremony at the college’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Hillsboro.
- SSCC instructor wins state nursing educator award
- A nursing instructor with Southern State Community College has been awarded the Excellence in Practical Nursing Education Award from the Ohio Organization of Practical Nurse Educators (OOPNE) at the state conference in March.
April 2015
- Dr. Randall to deliver SSCC commencement address
- Southern State Community College is pleased to announce Thomas Randall, M.D., has been selected to deliver the commencement address for the college’s 40th graduating class. Commencement will begin 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, in The Patriot Center on Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
March 2015
- De Bruin, Prickett, Rudduck sworn in as SSCC trustees
- At the March 18 meeting of the Southern State Community College Board of Trustees, Clinton County Common Pleas Court Judge Tim Rudduck presided over the swearing in of Brian De Bruin, Brian Prickett, and Kyle Rudduck, whose appointments fill the final vacancies on the college’s board.

- SSCC Respiratory Care celebrates graduation
- Southern State Community College’s ninth graduating class in the respiratory care program was honored during a recent ceremony on the college’s Fayette СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Hillsboro.
- Fifteen complete Southern State’s practical nursing program
- The 48th class of Southern State Community College’s practical nursing program was honored during a special recognition ceremony held Dec. 11 on the college’s Central СÖíÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø in Hillsboro.
- SSCC campus in Mt. Orab to host college visit day Jan. 23
